We realize that information security is both a technical and a management issue. We also understand that neither technical nor management approaches alone can address today's growing cybersecurity threats. Thus, the departments of Computer Science (College of Arts and Sciences) and Information Systems (College of Business Administration) have teamed to create a multidisciplinary approach to developing the next generation of security professionals. This innovative approach engenders security thinking and skills at the interface of technical and business aspects of cybersecurity.
Our graduate and undergraduate academic programs have been designed to be flexible to better suit student interests. Further, given the fast pace of change in this field our programs also espouse being nimble. The courses are taught by dedicated faculty members from the Computer Science and Information Systems departments.
The University of Missouri-St. Louis holds the prestigious National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense Education (CAE-CDE) designation granted by the National Security Agency and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. We are currently one of only two institutions that hold such a designation in the state of Missouri and the only CAE-CDE in the Saint Louis region.
